July 2024, the Supreme Court overturned the precedent known as Chevron deference, which said broadly that courts must defer to agencies when interpreting ambiguous statutory language.
The court gutted the Chevron deference for any future use. GOP are attempting to over-rule any previous use of the law as well, in order to control all agency decisions.

Project 2025 is “a remarkably detailed guide to turning the United States into a fascist’s paradise.” “Christian nationalist vision of the United States, one in which married heterosexuality is the only valid form of sexual expression and identity; all pregnancies would be carried to term, even if that requires coercion or death; and transgender and gender-nonconforming people do not exist.”
Project 2025: a detailed plan to essentially purge the federal workforce of tens of thousands of workers in favor of hiring ones who will adhere to the conservative principles of Project 2025. “Our goal is to assemble an army of aligned, vetted, trained, and prepared conservatives to go to work on Day One to deconstruct the Administrative State.” Dismantle the administrative state and return self-governance. That is, to do whatever they want.
Project 2025 was written by far-right wing Heritage Foundation and notorious groups like America First Legal, the Public Interest Legal Foundation and Moms For Liberty. i.e. by groups responsible for anti-abortion advocacy, voter suppression, anti-climate policies, and anti-LGBTQ advocacy.
