Social Security is a distribution of our deposit earnings (collected by IRS) plus interest… to us in retirement (or disability). GOP claim that Social Security is going broke. The problem is that GOP say any current Social Security surplus is “Up For Grabs” and continued to spend our retirement money on senseless wars (e.g. Bush).
Separate SSA money from the U.S. Treasury. Make it an independent administration agency.
Medicare also comes out of our paychecks. GOP want to privatize it, which means poorer service at much greater cost, and big payoffs to wealthy HealthCare CEOs. Medicare for All is far better, bringing down the costs for everyone because the government negotiates over a huge base of ~327 MILLION people. Prior conditions are not an issue. Canadians pay single payer insurance costs that are a quarter of American costs, with better care!
Public Schools: Federal government involvement is necessary to set minimum education standards. This can be done by threatening to lower education funds to the states if state teaching standards don’t meet federal standards. GOP privatization of schools means wealthy CEOs dredge for profit by eliminating counseling, school health care, extra-curricular programs, sports, music, art, drama, model congress, public speaking, and eliminating extra preparation for those who need math-prep, or disability assistance.
Rural voters: Tell rural voters that Republicans were taken-over by corrupt extremists. Republicans are NOT the Grand Old Party any longer. Putin/Trump/Koch/Heritage… use GOP GREED to marginalize all Americans. Climate change has reduced rural productivity and threatens a 1930s style dust bowl unless adequate environmental measures are taken.

The prices of prescription drugs have also risen precipitously (e. g. 20 times prices in Canada). When the FDA authorizes a generic company to produce a drug (e. g. reduced to the cost in Canada or abroad), the generic company is then bought out by a company and the generic is not made available to the U. S. public.
